The Big Bang Accident
Once upon a very long time ago, before there were any planets or galaxies or universes, there was a vast expanse of nothingness. In this vast expanse of nothingness was a lonely, rather bored, all powerful spirit who, if someone asked it its name, would answer, "Theadora Puddle-Sponge." But of course, no one ever asked Theadora its name, because there was no one else in the nothing to ask. After pondering this fact for many millennia (although, time doesn't exist in nothing, so it wasn't really), Theadora decided to do something about it. It split its self in two and then in two again and again and again. In the process of splitting, the spirits, totally by accident, created universes until there were millions of spirits and millions of universes, all exactly the same. Theodora was thrilled to have company in its lonely nowhere, but it wasn't a nowhere any more! The nothingness was now filled with quickly expanding universes. Theodora and the other spirits (who were exact copies of Theodora and so did whatever it did) gazed into each and every universe and marveled at the beauty they had created - stars and planets and moons and comets and asteroids and ... space! Theadora had never seen space before! It was like a whole lot of nothing, but it wasn't quite the same as nothing. There was definitely something there. All the spirits thought space was beautiful! They explored every nook and cranny of every world and galaxy, noticing that each universe was subtly different - an asteroid may have crashed a few kilometres in a different direction or a moon might have been in a slightly different orbit. Theadora told her new friends to find a universe each and stay there to watch over it, nurture it, but under no circumstances were they allowed to meddle in it! Over time, the spirits, like the universes they evolved into individual beings. At first the differences were very small, but over billions of what we call years, each spirit developed its own unique personality.
Everything about the spirits is intertwined in their universes and the origional Theadora Puddle-Sponge is present in all of them. Most of the spirits have obeyed the most sacred rule of rules: 'under no circumstances is any spirit allowed to meddle in the goings on of any universe', but some spirits just can't help themselves ...
To be continued ...
