What is a Word?

What is a word worth?
Or two?
Or three?
Do words mean anything to me?
You say "I love you"
And I just shrug
I'd be more greatful for a hug.
But if words have no worth,
then why do they keep stinging?
Surely they have some kind of meaning.
"I love you" comes with butterflies
and "I hate you" stabs like a thousand knives.
Death is goose-bumps
and life is a smile.
"how you been doin'?" is nice once in a while.
A compliment is too.
