Raven and Alice

Raven still doesn't seem to want to talk, to I'll subject her to a little more "Alice treatment".
For those who don't know, Alice is a little blond, blue-eyed english girl who likes pink lacey dresses, picnics with scones and dancing. Raven is the main character of my novel who is the sort of person that doesn't like people like Alice.

Yesterday they were in a place Alice chose. Today, I'm letting Raven choose.

She says they're at the dining hall of her school. They are the only ones there. Raven is wearing her usual black tights and singlet with a black jacket. Alice has her hair in six perfect ringlets which are tied into two pony tails (three ringlets in each) by pink ribbons. Her dress is frilly, lacey and pink. There is a pink bow at the back and on the front of her pink sandals.

Here is their conversation:

Alice: This is a very nice place.
Raven: Not really.
Alice: Oh. Why don't you like it?
Raven: It's too white.
A: Oh. So you go to school here?
R: Yes.
A: Do you like it?
R: Sometimes.
A: What do you like?
R: Combat classes.
A: What do you do in them?
R: Fight people.
A: Oh. Is the food here good?
R: Sometimes.
A: Do they have scones?
R: Does your life revolve around scones?
A: No. I just like them.
*Silence*
A: Ask me a question.
R: I did.
A: Ask another one.
R: Why do you dress like a porcelain doll?
A: I like it. Why do you dress in dark colours?
R: Because nothing else matches my eyes.
A: What's your earliest memory?
R: Me and my brother playing chasey in the back garden while our mother watched from the porch. He pushed me from behind and I fell over. When I got up, he was laughing at me so I gave him a black eye and a split lip.
A: *Gasp!* What did your mother do?
R: Told us that if we were going to fight like that, could we please not get so muddy. She didn't want the house to get dirty.
A: *Stares* Didn't she care that you were hurting each other?
R: It's all part of learning to deal with pain.

Thank you Alice! That's exactly the inspiration I needed!!!
